2022 Senior Whitecaps manager announcement

Oakville Little League was disappointed the 2021 Whitecaps All-Star season had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

We fully expect the Whitecaps program return to full swing in 2022, barring any further unforeseen challenges.

With that said, Oakville Little League is proud to announce our intention to have a Senior (16U) Whitecaps program in 2022.

The league has fielded several inquiries from players in our current junior house league program about the opportunity to remain in the league in 2022 and take a run at making a 16U Whitecaps team, which would have an automatic bye into the Little League provincial championship.

Accordingly, the Board of Directors has made the decision to select a team manager in advance for the 2022 16U team.

We are pleased to announce that Derek O’Reilley has accepted the position of 16U Team Manager.

Derek has been part of our House League and All-Star program for many years. and we feel that his coaching background and history will lend itself well to reinvigorating our 16U program.

Congratulations to Derek. and we look forward to a strong turnout of player candidates to tryout for this team in the spring of 2022.

The league has had Whitecaps All-Star teams from 7U through to 16U in the past, and we look to continue with these age groups going forward.

Our Whitecaps teams have enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the Little League Districts, Provincials and Canadians. In 2015, our 14U Whitecaps advanced through to the Junior World Series.

We look to begin that journey to the World Series again in 2022.
