Rowan’s Law Effective July 1, 2019
The Rowan’s Law concussion awareness rules came into effect in the Province of Ontario on July 1, 2019. After that date, sports organizations must not register athletes under 26 years of age* into a sports activity unless they, as well as their parent (for athletes under 18), provide confirmation that they have reviewed one of the Concussion Awareness Resources (see below) within the previous twelve months.
Furthermore, sports organizations must also not allow coaches, team trainers and officials to serve as a coach, team trainer or official for or in respect of the sports organization unless they provide confirmation that they have reviewed one of the Concussion Awareness Resources, every year.
Links to the documents which must be reviewed are listed below and are based on the age of the player being registered:
When registering a player in our league you will be required to confirm your compliance with the above-noted requirement through the use of a waiver declaration.
PLEASE NOTE: There are a number of divisions where a pre-season player evaluation will determine which section within that division a player will be placed e.g. Major T-Ball: Red vs White; and Minor, Major and Junior: AL vs NL.
To facilitate the process all registrations in those 4 divisions are initially placed in the section called “Players” pending completion of the pre-season evaluation. When registering players in those 4 divisions, the system will show you the various sections but only the “Players” section will be available for registration.
If you were registered for the 2019 or 2020 season, please use the “Member Login” section to register for 2021 and to update information as required.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact our Registrar at email@example.com
Field Permits: Town of Oakville Phased-In Pricing Strategy
Year 4 of the Town’s 7-year phase-in pricing strategy for outdoor sports field permits is due to take effect in 2021. The strategy’s implementation in the first three years resulted in a significant increase to our annual cost of field permits. For 2021, the increase will represent an additional$25 per player for permit fees alone and without consideration of increased costs in other areas of operation.
The Town’s cost recovery policy will continue to result in field permit rate fee increases that are significantly higher than the rate of inflation. While these increases are beyond the control of Oakville Little League and will impact all sports organizations in Oakville. the League is committed to minimizing the impact on registration fees while continuing to provide top-quality community baseball programs.
