The League asks that all parents, volunteers and spectators respect the Town of Oakville By-Law and refrain from smoking including cannabis and vaping within twenty metres of all of our sports fields that are used in the Town of Oakville.
On June 24, 2019, Council approved amendments to By-law 2013-013, the Parks By-law, to include regulations for smoking cannabis and vaping in town parks and recreation facilities.
The new regulations are consistent with the Smoke Free Ontario Act which prohibits vaping and cannabis use anywhere smoking is prohibited, including 20 metres from all playgrounds and sporting and spectator areas.
The town’s commitment to creating smoke and vape-free public spaces plays an important role in contributing to a safe and supportive community where people are active, healthy, and have a high quality of life.
