7U and 8U High Level Skills Development Program

Oakville Little League is pleased to announce that we will be running a winter skills development program for our 7-8-year-old baseball players.

This program is intended for stronger players within their divisions who aspire to play higher level baseball, and are seeking to prepare for rep tryouts and/or the upcoming season.

  • Location: 643 Baseball, 2455 Cawthra Rd #28, Mississauga, ON L5A 3P1 – Google Maps Link
  • Dates: (7 weeks, all Saturdays): February 8, February 15, March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29, April 5.
  • Time: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. 
  • Head Instructor: Andrew Crocker

Program Description:

  • High Performance Winter Training, Skills and Development
  • Targeted to 7U and 8U players with aspirations of playing Whitecaps Baseball in 2025

Objectives:

  • Rookie Ball (pitching machine) preparation and readiness for 8U players
  • Whitecap (Rep) player pool development and tryout readiness for all players

Instruction Focus:

  • Hitting: Transition to hitting the moving ball (pitching machine) for our 8U players and optimizing techniques off the tee for all players
  • Defense: A strong focus on glove skills and throwing to make outs
  • Athleticism/Movement: fitness, speed, agility, footwork
  • Fun: Continued focus on inspiring kids to want to play baseball through gamified/engaging drills

Notes:

  • All those participating in the Fall & Winter Clinics must be registered for the 2025 Summer House League program. This will ensure that participants are insured and covered in the event of injury.
  • Clinic participants are required to have their own glove, helmet and protective cup. Players will be asked to wear an indoor sport shoe and dress appropriately for the sport of baseball.
  • Participation, or lack of participation, has NO significance on the selection of 2025 Summer Whitecaps programs.
